The March

March for our rights, celebrate our identities

The Lausanne Pride March wil take place on Saturday June 27th. The rally point is under Bessières Bridge at 2pm and the procession will run along Saint-Martin Street. The march is scheduled to start at 2:45 pm

With festive and activist spirit, we will march across the city to the rhythm of our voices, our colours and our demands.

How to get to the march?

For a smooth arrival, we recommend planning your travel in advance as roads and public transport will be busy. For environmental reasons, we strongly encourage the use trains, buses and the metro.

🗺️ See the transit map.

  • 📍 From the greater Lausanne area
To avoid the crowds, we recommend avoiding the train station and the M2 metro, as they will be packed.
    • The smart move: Take the M1 metro to Lausanne-Flon. The rally point is only 5 minutes away on foot.
    • Bus alternative: The number 6 bus stops at Bessières, right at the rally point.
  • 🚊 From Lausanne Train Station
Several options are available depending on crowd levels:
    • Direct option: Take the M2 metro to Bessières station.
♿ Solidarity: Please allow priority access to the metro for mobility-impaired and elderly people.
    • Plan B (if the M2 is full): Take bus number 1 to Saint-François (the rally point is a 2-minute walk away).
    • Plan C (alternative route): Take buses 3, 20 or 21 to Cecil, and change to the 6 bound for Bessières.
  • 🚗 Coming by car (avoid downtown)
Road traffic will be heavily impacted during the event.
Our advice for the march

To let the celebration stay great from start to finish, here are a few simple things to keep in mind to take care of yourself and others under the Lausanne sun.

  • ☀️ Sun safety: Maximum protection
The late June sun can hit hard, especially during stationary gatherings and parades.
    • Sunscreen: Apply a high SPF (30 or 50) before heading out, and slip the tube in your bag to reapply every two hours. Don’t forget your ears, the back of your neck, and your nose!
    • Cover up in style: Bring out your best hats, caps, colourful bucket hats, and sunglasses. As well as completing your look, they’ll protect you from heatstroke.
  • 💧 Hydration: Water first and foremost
In the excitement of the March, we often forget to drink… water!
    • Your water bottle, your best ally: Bring a reusable bottle with you. You can refill it for free at water stations around the city and in the village. Cool tip: The night before, partially fill your bottle and put it in the freezer. Before you leave, top it up with fresh water — you’ll enjoy a cold drink for hours.
    • One glass of water for every glass of alcohol: If you drink alcohol, make sure to alternate with water. Alcohol dehydrates the body very quickly, especially in direct sunlight.
  • 🔊 Sound levels: Protect your ears
Pride is a vibrant, musical celebration, but the volume can be intense, especially near the floats and stages.
    • Cover up… your ears: Think about bringing earplugs. No worries if you forgot them — earplugs will be available at the village bars. They’ll let you fully enjoy the music while protecting your hearing.
    • Need a breather? If the noise or the crowd become too overwhelming, remember that a calm block is available in the procession. Don’t hesitate to join it to march…
  • 👟 Comfort and safety: Take care of your body
Lausanne is known for its hills and cobblestones. The march is physically demanding!
    • Proper footwear: We love dizzyingly high heels and dazzling outfits, but for the march itself wear sneakers or comfortable shoes that you will be able to walk multiple kilometers in without suffering. You can always change your footwear afterwards for the party!
    • Pay attention to your body’s signs: If you are feeling dizzy, shivering, or feel a sudden wave of fatigue, don’t push through. Find some shade and ask for help.
  • 🤝 Solidarity: Keep an eye on one another
Pride is a safe and caring space.
    • Keep an eye on your friends: Make sure everyone is drinking enough water and is protecting themselves from the sun.
    • Care Team: Pride Angels are present throughout the route and at the Pride site. If you feel unwell, overheated, or are struggling (physically or psychologically), never hesitate to reach out to them. They are there for you, without judgment.

People with Reduced Mobility

If you’d like to come to Lausanne Pride, we invite you to take note of the information related to physical accessibility.

As Lausanne is a city with many elevation changes, we’ve put together information about the March (access, starting point, alternative routes and shortcuts) and the Village (accessibility measures to help you have the best experience possible).

The meeting point for the start of the March will be under the Bessières bridge, where a dedicated group with volunteers and mobility-assistance transport will join the March in the Low-Volume Music Zone.

You’ll find more information on the Accessibility page (FR).

👥 March order

This march order (in French) helps you find your way and choose where and with whom to march on the day! The alphabetical reference points (A, B, C, …) will be marked on-site by signs placed along Rue St-Martin.

What are the blocks at the Lausanne Pride March?

The blocks at Lausanne Pride are markers to help you navigate and choose the best place to march. Each block generally brings together organisations with similar approaches or communities. The aim is to give space to specific causes, and we encourage those who identify with them to join, take their place, and march with their voices.
